Your Local Wildlife Need Your Help
Elk Ridge has made a controversial decision to capture and euthanize our local deer population each August, starting from August 1, 2023. Council Member Jared Peterson has been advocating for this plan for years, justifying this drastic measure on the basis of only 25 complaints received from residents. To put this into perspective, Elk Ridge City has approximately 6000 residents. This means that less than 1% of the population has influenced a decision that determines the fate of our local wildlife.
Our initiatives in Elk Ridge save deer Population
The name Elk Ridge was not chosen lightly. Our city, nestled close to the mountain, has coexisted with the deer population for generations. These deer are not only integral to our local ecosystem but also a part of our community identity. The answer to the problem should not be eradicating them, but education- enlightening our residents about living harmoniously with our local wildlife

Schuler's Park Meeting
A meeting with Elk Ridge residents was held on 1st August of year 2023 at Schuler’s Park with Mayor Robert Haddock and Council Member Peterson, both of whom support the euthanization of our deer. The Mayor had promised to call a further meeting with Council members to halt this operation until the residents can vote on it. To our dismay, no such meeting has been organized thus far.
We urgently need your support
We urgently need your support to push the council members to stop this inhumane act. Please stand with us and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
One percent of the population shouldn’t dictate the fate of our local wildlife
